Who needs this
Fingerprints are required
in more cases than you think.

Many people assume fingerprinting is only for criminal checks. Here are the most common situations that require it.

RCMP criminal record check
Fingerprints are mandatory for a certified RCMP check — the most official Canadian background check, required for immigration, government security, and regulated roles.
Immigration — PR, citizenship, work permits
IRCC and foreign governments require fingerprint-based police certificates for permanent residence, citizenship applications, and work permit processing.
Government & security clearances
Federal, provincial, and contractor security clearances require fingerprint-based screening through official RCMP channels — a name-based check is not sufficient.
Vulnerable sector screening
Roles involving children, seniors, or people with disabilities may require fingerprint-based vulnerable sector screening — beyond a standard name-based check.
Applicants needing physical ink & roll cards
Some countries require physical fingerprint cards mailed to an embassy or foreign government. We provide ink & roll at our Toronto office — with correct card format confirmed before your visit.
Need an RCMP criminal record check?Fingerprinting is required as part of that process — we handle both together. See our Criminal Record Checks page.
Which method do I need?
For an RCMP check or Canadian immigration?Digital fingerprinting (live scan) — fast, electronic, and accepted by RCMP and IRCC.
For a foreign government or embassy?Ink & roll cards — physical format required by some countries. We confirm the card type before your visit.
Do you also handle the criminal record check?Yes — we do both together in one process. No need to coordinate separately.
Not sure?Contact us — we confirm the right method in minutes, no charge.

Digital & Ink & Roll —
both handled end to end.

The right method depends entirely on what you need the fingerprints for. Here’s what each involves.

Most common
Digital Fingerprinting
Live scan captures your prints electronically and submits them directly through our RCMP-accredited system. No ink, no physical card — faster and cleaner than traditional methods. Standard for RCMP checks and Canadian immigration.

Traditional ink fingerprinting onto official FD-258 or C-216C fingerprint cards. Required when a foreign government, embassy, or specific agency requests physical cards — or when applying from abroad for a Canadian check.

What we do for you
You arrive. We
handle everything else.
01
Confirm the right method before you visit
You contact us by phone or WhatsApp. We confirm whether you need digital or ink & roll — and the exact card format if applicable — before you travel to the office. No wasted trips.
02
Verify your identity on arrival
We check your government-issued photo ID before capturing any prints. RCMP requires valid identification — we verify everything on the spot so your application cannot be rejected on a technicality.
03
Capture and quality-check your prints
Prints are captured and immediately reviewed for quality. Poor-quality prints are the most common reason RCMP submissions fail. We re-take at no extra cost before you leave — every time.
04
Submit through RCMP-accredited channels
Digital prints are submitted electronically the same day via Reliability Screening Solutions Inc. Ink & roll cards are completed, reviewed, and forwarded or mailed per your specific instructions.
05
Track and deliver — we stay available
If your fingerprints are part of a criminal record check, we coordinate the entire process from here and keep you updated. If prints alone were requested, we confirm successful submission and remain available for any follow-up.

Your biometric data
What happens to your prints
after we submit them.
Submitted to RCMP — not stored by us
Your fingerprints are transmitted directly to RCMP’s CCRTIS system via Reliability Screening Solutions. GlobusID does not retain your biometric data after submission.
PIPEDA compliant — full privacy protection
All personal information collected during your appointment is handled in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Never shared beyond what processing requires.
RCMP handles your data under federal law
Once received by RCMP, your fingerprints are processed and handled under the authority of the RCMP Act and relevant federal privacy legislation. Results are returned only to the authorised requester.
Why choose GlobusID
Why customers choose us
over going direct.

A rejected print or wrong card format can delay your application by weeks. Here’s how we prevent that from happening.

01
Quality check before you leave
We review every set of prints for quality on the spot. Poor prints are the number-one reason RCMP submissions fail. We re-take if needed — no extra cost, no delays.
02
Correct card format — guaranteed
Different authorities require FD-258, C-216C, or other formats. We confirm the exact format before your visit so there are no surprises at the embassy or agency window.
03
RCMP-accredited end to end
Submissions go through Reliability Screening Solutions Inc. — a CCRTIS-accredited provider. The same infrastructure used by government agencies, not a third-party database.
04
English & Tamil — real people
Full support in English and Tamil by phone, WhatsApp, or in person. We make sure every form is correct and every requirement is understood before your visit.
05
We pair prints with your full check
If you need both fingerprinting and a criminal record check, we handle both together — one process, one contact, one end-to-end result. No coordination required from your side.
06
PIPEDA-compliant data handling
Your biometric and personal data are protected under Canadian privacy law. Never retained beyond what processing requires, never shared unnecessarily.
Also need a criminal record check?
Fingerprinting is step one. The RCMP check is step two — we handle both together.

For RCMP-certified checks, fingerprinting and the criminal record check are part of the same process. We manage the full application from fingerprinting through to final document delivery — you don’t need to coordinate between offices.

FAQ
Fingerprinting
questions answered.

The most common questions — ordered by what people ask before their visit.

Ask us directly
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
+
Walk-ins are welcome for digital fingerprinting during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm) at our GTA Square office. For ink & roll, we recommend booking in advance so we can prepare the correct card format and materials before you arrive.
What do I need to bring?
+
Valid government-issued photo ID is mandatory — passport, permanent resident card, or driver’s licence. Depending on your purpose, you may also need an employer request letter or your immigration file number. We’ll confirm exactly what to bring when you contact us.
How long does the appointment take?
+
Most appointments take 15 to 20 minutes — ID verification, print capture, and a quality check before you leave. If prints need to be retaken, we do so immediately at no extra cost.
Do I need digital or ink & roll?
+
For Canadian RCMP checks and IRCC immigration applications, digital is standard. Ink & roll is required when a foreign government, embassy, or specific agency requests physical fingerprint cards. If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll confirm in minutes.
What if my prints are rejected by RCMP?
+
We review all prints for quality before submission — preventing most rejections. If RCMP requests re-prints, we work with you to resolve it quickly. Quality issues are more common with ink & roll than digital, which is another reason digital is preferred wherever accepted.
Can I get fingerprinted if I’m outside Canada?
+
In-person fingerprinting requires physical presence at our Toronto office. If you’re outside Canada and need fingerprints for a Canadian check, contact us — we’ll walk you through your options, including whether ink & roll cards can be sourced locally and mailed to the appropriate authority.
Do you also handle the criminal record check — or just the fingerprinting?
+
Both. If you need fingerprinting as part of an RCMP criminal record check, we manage the entire process together — from prints to final document delivery. See our Criminal Record Checks page for full details.
Is my fingerprint data stored by GlobusID?
+
No. Your fingerprint data is transmitted directly to RCMP via our CCRTIS-accredited partner. GlobusID does not retain biometric data after submission. All personal information is handled in full compliance with PIPEDA.
